My good friend Shady is a big Phish fan. It is truly impressive how much of a fan he is that it almost makes me want to dig deeper.
Anyway… during this last weekend in Minneapolis, Trey Anastasio (Phish singer) and his side band happened to be playing downtown while we were both in town for a tradeshow. Sure enough, Shady got some tickets and I gladly went along for the ride.
I know nothing about the band or the songs, but I definitely enjoyed the show. If you are a fan of music, instrumentation, jamming and lights, It’s pretty easy to be down with the live show. I’m glad I got to experience a quarter of the Phish experience.
It’s that time of the year where a good chunk of BMX heads to Estonia for Simpel Session. If it wasn’t for Simpel Session being there, I’m not sure I would ever have made it to Estonia in my life. I was there for Simpel 2008 and it was pretty awesome, the contest and the surroundings. Hit up Defgrip for all of this years info.
The shot above is near the hotel everyone stayed at. I was up early and wondered around town.

This is the Villa Riviera building in downtown Long Beach, California.
This 16 story French Gothic building was constructed in 1929 and was the second tallest building in Southern California at the time. The Villa overlooks Long Beach, the ocean and is currently home to “sought-after” condos. It also overlooks the Long Beach Grand Prix every year, which may or may not be annoying.
In 1996, the Villa Riviera received recognition as a National Historical Landmark.

It seems as though “winter” has moved into Cali. I know what most of you are probably thinking, but it is chilly as I type this. Perhaps briefly, but it is still chilly. Brrrrrrr.
Seal Beach, California is home to one of my favorite places to eat…. Beachwood BBQ.
The place is half bar/half restaurant, is pretty unassuming and has a real simple throwback decor. They also have a great selection of rotating craft brews on tap. If you don’t believe me, peep the Hop Cam.
The jars pictured above hold the sauces and can be found at each table. The food here is actually tasty and doesn’t just come covered in sauce, It’s up to you if you want to add some. There’s Spicy, Mustard, Vinegar and Sweet.
So, Ikea is serving meatball sundae’s… I never knew such a thing could exist.
Even though the ingredients are pretty basic dinner materials that you could eat together anyway, there’s something about thinking of it as a sundae that makes me want to throw up on my keyboard.
